A clean, no-frills baseline chat mode
Standard Chat is the console’s clean, no-frills baseline — a straightforward conversation mode with no specialized prompt behavior layered on top.
Standard Chat is the console’s neutral baseline — the mode a new session opens on before you’ve chosen anything specialized. There’s no extra system prompt shaping how it responds: you type a question or task and it answers directly, which makes it a predictable, assumption-free starting point for quick one-off questions or for thinking through a decision before deciding whether a specialized mode (like Agent X Brain or the Ad Copy Generator) would serve the task better. Like every other mode in the console, requests are still routed through the same multi-provider failover chain across Gemini, Groq, and OpenRouter, so reliability doesn’t come at the cost of simplicity — you get a plain conversation with the same backend resilience as the rest of the product, and you can switch to any specialized mode mid-session without losing your place.
Both use the same failover router, but Standard Chat is the plain, unmodified baseline while Smart AI is tuned as the general-purpose default. Standard Chat is what a brand-new session opens on.
When you don’t want a specialized mode’s built-in assumptions — for example a quick question that isn’t marketing copy, code, or a document lookup — Standard Chat gives you a neutral thread with nothing layered on top.
Yes. Switching modes from the picker doesn’t require starting a new session — you can move to a specialized mode any time.
The same multi-provider chain as the rest of Agent X: Gemini, Groq, and OpenRouter, with automatic failover if one is unavailable.
